Dan Curtis-Cummins is a recent graduate of the Masters' program in English Composition at SF State, and mainly teaches the 'Stretch' course of First Year Composition, ENG 104/105.  His teaching focuses on 'critical reading' strategies, analyzing diverse language and 'Englishes' as they apply to academic reading and writing, and encouraging students to bridge their public selves with their newly forming academic selves by negotiating their personal voice within the standards to the academic community and university.  Dan encourages students to think about reading and writing in new, transformative ways, and to see the potential impacts of their academic research, reading and writing to create positive personal and social change as ‘authors’ alongside the diverse scholars we read and interact with in class.
