Maria Gorbea Zuffanelli

Maria Gorbea Zuffanelli is a dedicated educator who has spent over 5 years working with students of all ages. From teaching Humaties courses in middle school, to mentoring young leaders in education in her role as Camp Director for Galileo Learning, to her latest role as Faculty Lecturer for the Composition and Literature departments, Maria believes in the power of education and the potential for impact as a teacher in young people's lives.
Maria has spent the past decade in the SFSU English Department assuming many roles beginning as undergraduate student, and most recently as a graduate student where she was a Teaching Assistant, Graduate Teaching Asscociate, and Instructional Student Assistant. Maria holds a graduate degree in English Literature as well as Certificates in the Teaching of Post-Secondary Reading and Composition. During her graduate studies, Maria was the recipient of the Distinguised Graduate Achievement Award. In her current role as faculty lecturer at SFSU, Maria centers Critical Pedagody and her expertise lies in helping young people find their voices as active citizens engaging in critical thinking and discourse. Maria is excited to continue investing in and engaging with the incredible learning community of SFSU.
