I have been a writer my whole life. From recording my life in journals since I was eight to creating essays and short stories in school to reporting journalism and corporate communication pieces, writing has been a constant feature of my life. I believe in the power of the written word and encourage my students to see its practical use in our everyday lives. I’ve been teaching writing at SF State for many years. I enjoy watching students develop as writers, finding their voice, conquering their writer’s block and fears, and getting their ideas on the page.
I have a BA in English Literature from University of California, Berkeley, a MA in Journalism from New York University and Certificates in Teaching Composition and Post-Secondary Reading from San Francisco State University. For the past few years, I have been the editor of Sutro Review, a journal that publishes SF State student writers.
