Wendy is an SFSU alumna, where she earned an MA in English Composition and Certificate in Teaching Post-Secondary Reading. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in English Literature from Mills College in Oakland, after transferring from Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill as a first-generation college student.
A proud first-gen student, Wendy is honored to mentor and teach undergraduates at both SFSU and DVC. She also serves as a Faculty Training Lead with the Contra Costa Community College District, helping faculty incorporate accessible, humanizing practices in their online classes.
Wendy’s professional interests include fun and gamification in learning, first-year and first-generation experiences, and equitable instructional design. Her research focuses on embracing student resistance over compliance in the first-year writing classroom.
Her hobbies include knitting, baking, mixed media art, video games, anime, reading, random pop culture references, English Premier League football, pug memes, and the impossible task of trying to perfect her abuelita's rice and beans.
