My name is Ilya and I have spent a number of years at San Francisco State as a graduate student and undergrad. I received my master's in English literature in 2017 and went on to complete certificates in Teaching Composition and teaching Postsecondary Reading. My academic interests include studying writing as a tool for self-expression and identity-creation, and as a platform for more deeply understanding others and ourselves. I also study the ways in which reading and writing can be used as a tool for critical thinking and problem-solving. My academic interests also include genre theory and the ways in which reading and writing are done differently across the curriculum. My teaching goals include helping my students see writing as a tool for their future success. I am currently finishing an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) while teaching in the Graduate Teaching Associate (GTA) program.
