Jason Jackl received his B.A. in English from the University of California at Berkeley and his M.A. in Literature in English from San Francisco State University. He holds certificates in the Teaching of Postsecondary Reading and Composition from SF State. His graduate research work focuses on African American history, literature, and culture. He has presented work on authors such as Toni Morrison and Ishmael Reed at national conferences, and is currently continuing his research and writing on marginalized communities and social justice issues in the U.S. and beyond. He has both academic and personal interests in film studies and is presently conducting research for a book-length critical analysis of Billy Wilder’s 1944 film noir Double Indemnity. He played music professionally for many years, before pursuing a career as an educator.
